Volunteers collect three tons of garbage during Monroe Clean Sweep
MONROE More than 200 volunteers participated last April 21 in what has become the Monroe Clean Sweep, collecting more than three tons of garbage for their efforts.
The designated areas included Route 17M in Harriman to Museum Village in Monroe, as well as selected town and village streets.

Operation Clean sweep was a big success once again this year, Leonard added. Our volunteer committee and sponsors are always a big part of it, but the people who turn out on the Saturday before Earth Day are to be commended for the effort and hard work that they put into this event to make our community shine.
I would ask everyone to pitch in and not litter, she concluded. We all live here so lets make our hometown look good.
