This is an emergency hospital at Camp Funston in Kansas during influenza epidemic in 1918-20. By some estimates, more people died in a single year from the Spanish Flu than died in four years of the Bubonic Plague (also called the Black Death, 1347-1451). In the U.S. the deadliest death toll was 195,000 in a 31-day period. Then, within a short time frame, the flu disappeared as mysteriously as it had appeared.
