‘What disturbs THIS American is the gullibility of authors of such letters’

A recent Letter to the Editor opined that the evidence contained in the most recent indictment against former President Donald Trump should disturb every American.

What disturbs THIS American is the gullibility of authors of such letters.

Let’s take a moment to remind Americans, in particular our fellow readers here, that there is no “evidence” in allegations.

In fact, these two words cannot nor should exist in the same sentence. It is precisely under this misapplication that the old adage “you can indict a ham sandwich” is derived from.

An allegation is an allegation. Americans are granted due process by way of a trial. It is at a trial and only at a trial that the word “evidence” should be applied in response to any charges.

President Trump was in disbelief at the outcome of the 2020 presidential election in the throes of what was recently confirmed by John Durham, special counsel for the Department of Justice, to be the infamous Russian Hoax.

It is not a crime to make a phone call.

It is not a crime to ask for a re-count.

It is not a crime to look for alternate electoral votes - even to supply the exact number needed.

It is not a crime to believe that at the outcome of the 2020 election, one may have once again been the target of unscrupulous behavior.

    Sincerely,

    Anita Hauschild
