Assemblyman Colin J. Schmitt (R,C,I-New Windsor) released the following statement in response of the Governor’s 2020 budget address:
“The Governor's budget address left little to be desired. There was a lot of fancy talk and Power Point slides but the core of what will impact Hudson Valley families should worry all residents.
Of paramount concern is the Governor's proposal to change the school funding formula which would take money away from Hudson Valley Schools to be redistributed elsewhere. Increasing our local property tax burden.
This is unacceptable.
The Governor also proposed a two-year DOT capital plan versus the traditional five year plan, which will have significant negative impacts on our Hudson Valley infrastructure.
I stand strongly opposed to any outrageous efforts to hurt the Hudson Valley during the budget process and will not relent in fighting for our fair share of funding.
