First and foremost, I would like say that it has been an honor to serve as your councilman on the Monroe Town Board for the past eight years. I would also like to personally thank all of you for your steadfast support, kindness and friendship during my time in office. In the next few weeks, you will be asked to vote for my replacement on the town board and I enthusiastically support and respectfully ask that you vote for Steve Thau. Steve is a long-time member of our community, has served as a volunteer on several citizens’ committees, has served on the planning board and ZBA, is a scout leader that has mentored dozens of young men on their path to becoming Eagle Scouts, and is also a dedicated law enforcement officer, serving in local and federal task forces. He has the professional qualifications and experience to get the job done starting on Day One.

I also respectfully request that you re-elect Councilman Sal Scancarello to the town board. Sal is a tireless worker who is always promoting the virtues of living or having a business in Monroe. He is personally responsible for bringing economic opportunities and businesses to Monroe. He is a true believer in this town, it’s people and all that it has to offer.

In closing, I urgently remind all of you that now is not the time to gamble the future of our town on untested and inexperienced, politically ambitious candidates that will do or say anything to get elected. We have worked diligently over the past eight years to reverse the slide that the town was in and to restore civility, respect and accountability to your town government. I ask you to please stay the course and vote for the proven, reliable leadership that you have come to expect from Steve Thau Sal Scancarello, Highway Superintendent Pat Patterson, Town Clerk Valerie Bitzer and Justice Jim McKnight.

    Michael McGinn, Councilman
