The 29th annual Turkey Trot 5K race/walk took off at 9 a.m. Saturday Nov. 30, without a glitch.

One hundred and thirty seven runners and walkers, with help from the Village of Monroe Police and the Monroe Volunteer Ambulance, continued out Smith’s Clove Park into the Village of Monroe, along the ponds, up Route 208 and returned back to the Park by way of Forest and Franklin avenues.

John Pozo from Cornwall came in first place with a time of 17:56 while Veronica Kurtulik of Cornwall-on-Hudson took the women’s division with a time of 23:12.

“It’s nice to see so many young kids and family” said John Battaglia, chairman of the Monroe Joint Park Commission, “and a special thank you to the Monroe Police and the Monroe Ambulance Corps for maintaining a safe course.”

As they completed their race, participants and their supporters went back to the park’s activity room for water, fruit, and bagels supplied by Bagel World in Monroe, immediately followed by the award ceremony.
