Last Friday night, May 21, the Monroe-Woodbury Varsity Softball team traveled to Minisink Valley High School for a non-league match up.

The Crusaders entered the game with a 10-0 record, having beaten the Tigers of Kingston in their last game 11-2.

The Crusaders took the lead in the top of the third inning when Amanda Palmer drew a walk, then advanced to second on a wild pitch.

Next, Olivia Shippee singled, driving Palmer to third, They both scored on Brianna Roberts’ double to left.

The Crusaders stretched their lead to three runs in the top of the fourth when Kelsey O’Brien reached base on an Warrior error and scored when Arianna Exarchakis’ hard shot to short led to another Warrior error.

The Crusaders finished the scoring in the sixth when O’Brien singled and advanced to second on Anna Paravati’s sacrifice, then scored on Exarchakis’ single to center.

But the real story of the game was junior Brianna Roberts. The Crusader ace threw a perfect game, not allowing any any walks or hits while sticking out 14 batters.

It was Roberts’ ninth victory of the year and and her second no-hitter this season.
