Monroe-Woodbury Cross Country teams: OCIAA Champions

On a beautiful, sunny Friday afternoon, Oct. 25, the Monroe-Woodbury Cross Country teams participated in the OCIAA Championship held at Bear Mountain State Park.

The varsity race's consisted of runners representing 22 high schools that participate in OCIAA.

Boys

Behailu Bekele-Arcuri of Warwick Valley took first place in the boys varsity with a time of 15:21.20 over the three-mile course.

The Crusaders boys took home the team championship with a score of 88, Warwick Valley finished second with a score of 103 and Cornwall took third, scoring 108.

The Crusader top five were Brian Whitfield sixth place, Andrew Yi 14th, Ceasar Juarez 19th, Keith Allen 22nd and Tyler Anderson 27th.

Girls

In the Girls Varsity race it was Karrie Baloga of Cornwall who finished first with a time of 16:56.20.

The Crusader Girls also captured the team championship with a score of 59, narrowly beating out Cornwall who scored 61 with Goshen taking third with a score of 90.

The Crusader top five were Evelyn Gonzalez-Valle thrd, Leah Smith eighth, Cameryn Cain 14th, Mia Sisilli 15th and Samantha Apostolico 18th.

Next

The Crusaders teams will compete again on Nov. 6 at Bear Mt when they participate in the Section 9 Championship.
