Crusaders open boys basketball season with 58-31 victory over Valley Central

The Crusaders started a new era and a new season Saturday night, Dec. 5, when they traveled to Valley Central to face the Vikings.

Pat Harris has taken over as head coach of the boys team this year after leading the girls varsity to a 49-17 record over the last three years. That body of work included two Section 9 titles.

So with a lot of excitement in the air the Crusaders took the court.

The Crusaders jumped to an early 9-3 lead in the first quarter as Josh Castro scored six points.

In the second quarter, the Crusaders offense took over. When Dan Quinones broke ahead of the pack and and jammed a one-handed dunk, the Crusader fans and bench exploded as the Crusaders stretched their lead to 21-9 at the half.

In the third quarter, Tom Concannon took over, controlling the offensive boards and scoring eight points as the Crusaders pulled to a 46-25 lead after three quarters.

Pablo Quinones hit his fourth three-pointer in the fourth quarter as he led the Crusaders offense with 17 points and the Crusaders cruised to a 58-31 victory.

The Crusaders victory brings their record to 1-0 on the season. their next game will be on Monday the 9th when they host the Tigers of Kingston.
