Crusaders capture Beacon Bash baseball tournamment

FISHKILL — The Monroe-Woodbury Varsity Baseball Team scored 26 runs on 34 hits, while limiting two teams to a total of five runs over 14 innings, to win the Beacon Bash baseball tournament last Thursday and Friday at Dutchess Stadium in Fishkill.
On Thursday afternoon, the Crusaders topped the Dragons of Cornwall by a score of 10-4 behind a 17-hit attack led by Jack Bermingham’s three hits and two RBI’s and Nicholas Rivera’s three strong innings of relief.
On Friday night, the Crusaders faced the Bulldogs of Beacon in the tournament's championship game.
The cold weather didn’t cool of the Crusaders offense.
The Crusaders scored 16 runs on 17 hits, with Ryan Kirkpatrick leading the way this time with three hits and four RBI’s.
Starting pitcher AJ Rizzi picked up the win, allowing one run over four innings while striking out two.
Rivera and Bermingham made the all tournament team and Kirkpatrick took home the tournament MVP award.
The Crusaders 16-1 victory over the Bulldogs of Beacon brings their season record to 3-0.
