The Monroe-Woodbury Varsity Volleyball team hosted the Wizards of Washingtonville High School on Monday evening, Sept. 11.

The Crusaders led by Head Coach Steven Pallogudis and Assistant Coach Jaidin Kilner look to get their young team into the playoffs again this year.

Last year the Crusaders, with a senior-heavy line up, compiled a 14-5 record and were only stopped by perennial power Pine Bush in the playoffs.

The Crusaders entered the game against Washingtonville with a 0-2 record, after losing to Warwick 3-1 in their last match.

The Wizards entered the game with a 1-0 record after beating Middletown in their last match 3-2.

The Crusaders and Wizards took turns leading in the first game until they were tied at 16. At that point the Crusaders pulled away and won the first game 25-17.

In the second game the Crusaders jumped out to a big 1- point lead early and never looked back taking the game by the same 25-17 score.

The Wizards fought back and walked away with the third game 25-18.

The Crusaders responded and ended the match with a dominating 25-13 game.

The Crusaders 3-1 victory over the Wizards brings their record to 1-2 on the season. Their next game is against the Valley Central High School Vikings.
