The Monroe-Woodbury cheerleaders and coaches recently celebrated their winning season at Falkirk Estate and Country Club.
Seven graduating varsity cheerleaders were honored at the dinner: Captains Georgia Brink, Emily Campbell and Hannah Whitfield as well as Azules Rule, Victoria Perez, Marissa Mitchell and Kiersen German.
At the Home Competition in February of this year the three teams - Varsity, Junior Varsity and Modified - held a fund raiser where $1,000 was raised and donated to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
The cheer teams, with the help of the faculty and staff at Central Valley Elementary School, also collected more than 100 children’s books that were donated to the Maria Ferrari Children’s Hospital at Westchester Medical Center.
Cheer Director and Coach Barbara AliDad not only wants the cheerleaders to succeed in their sport but, more importantly, she said she wants them to make a positive impact on the community around them.
