Central Valley. Members of M-W Varsity Girls Basketball face the best in Section 9 - themselves

| 28 Feb 2021 | 03:47

On Wednesday afternoon, Feb. 24, at Monroe Woodbury High School, the defending Section 9 Champion Crusaders team took the court to face the only opponent they they will face this year.

With their regular schedule suspended due to the pandemic and their season reduced to only practices, they were granted permission to hold one scrimmage against themselves at their last practice.

Head Coach Dave Powers and Assistant Coaches Bill Earl and Kerry McHugh broke the team in half for a game with referees, score board and announcers.

No parents or fans were allowed to attend the game as a safety precaution but the game was streamed live so that they could enjoy the game at home.

The girls looked a little rusty but, considering what they have been through, it was actually quite a strong showing.

These girls are ready to play and hopefully next year they will once again show why they are consistently one of the top teams in Section 9.
