The fourth annual Port Jervis Women’s March will be held on Saturday, Jan. 18, at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, 31 Main St., Port Jervis.

The local theme is "Justice & Unity for All Families: Building a Bigger Table."

“The Women's March of Port Jervis believes support for our community's marginalized members uplifts and improves the community as a whole," said organizer Margaret Spring of Deerpark. “We’re hoping for a terrific turn-out. This is a family-friendly event.”

At 10 a.m. the event begins with a community fair inside the church. Representatives from local organizations that provide support to vulnerable people in the region will share information on their services and how attendees can get involved.

At 11:45 a.m., participants will gather in the sanctuary to listen to local speakers share their experiences and how everyday people can unite to make real positive change in local communities.

At noon, the gathering will meet outside St. Peter’s to peacefully march the mile loop through downtown Port Jervis before returning back to the church.

In past years the Women’s March in Port Jervis has seen attendance range from 200 to 300 people.

The Women’s March is an empowering event bringing together people from diverse backgrounds to call attention to women’s issues as everyone's issues, and that women's rights are human rights.
