State Sen. James Skoufis (D-Hudson Valley) and Assemblyman Karl Brabenec (R-Deerpark) this week touted a combined $220,018 in state funding awarded to Monroe-Woodbury School District and the Monroe Free Library.

The school district will receive $168,989 in Smart Schools Bond Act funding to enhance school connectivity.

The library will receive $51,029 in Library Construction Grant funding to support demolition of its 40 Millpond Parkway building as well as asbestos abatement and new parking construction.

“I am thrilled to announce these important funding opportunities in a bipartisan manner with Assemblyman Brabenec,” Skoufis said in the press release announcing the funding. “By improving technological infrastructure and connectivity throughout Monroe-Woodbury CSD, my alma mater, the district will continue to serve its students with high-quality learning opportunities for years to come. Additionally, funding for the demolition of Monroe Free Library’s long-underutilized outbuilding will improve patron accessibility and safety. I congratulate both institutions on this well-deserved boost.”

“It was a pleasure to be able to work with Senator Skoufis to secure much needed funding for Monroe-Woodbury School District and for the Monroe Library,” added Brabenec. “Working together and delivering results for our community is what good governance is all about.”
