State Sen. James Skoufis (D-Hudson Valley) this week presented the South Blooming Grove Fire Department with a $50,000 grant to facilitate the department’s purchase of a Polaris side-by-side vehicle with a brush fire skid and extrication device.

“When in budget negotiations, I’m always determined to bring taxpayer dollars right back home to help our local municipalities and emergency service departments better serve local residents,” said Senator Skoufis. “I congratulate Chief John Salka and his team for this long-awaited and well-deserved funding, and thank them for their continued service to the South Blooming Grove community.”

“This new equipment,” Salka said, “will improve our ability to respond efficiently and effectively when emergencies arise.”

The grant will be administered by the Dormitory Authority of the State of New York.
