This year, Monroe Free Library’s annual Summer Reading Program will be held virtually.

Both programming and book logging will be offered online. The Summer Reading program is designed to keep children engaged and learning during the summer months.

The program will run from July 6 to Aug. 8.

A staple of the summer reading program is the reading log, a place where children and teens can keep track of their reading accomplishments during the program.

This year, in place of a physical record, reading and activities will be logged with a website called READsquared.

Children can earn badges and achievements by logging activity on READsquared, and will receive a certificate of completion when the reading goals are accomplished.

Children’s Summer Reading programming will be conducted entirely online via MFL’s Facebook page.

Crafts with MFL staff members Gia and Haley will be posted weekly, along with storytimes with Mrs. Q and Miss Diane, as well as Sign Language classes with Dorey Houle and special guest performers.

Some of the virtual programs will require registration, and all of them will be listed on the library’s events calendar at www.monroefreelibrary.org/events.
