“After almost two months, we at Monroe Taxi and Greenwood Lake Taxi are so excited to announce that we will be re-opening Monday, May 18.

“This has been such a difficult time for everyone and the genuine understanding and outpouring of love from our customers has been incredible. Everyone at Monroe Taxi and Greenwood Lake Taxi couldn't thank you more for your support.

“Over the past five years of owning Monroe Taxi and then Greenwood Lake Taxi I've had to make a lot of tough decisions, but nothing has ever come close to how difficult it was deciding to close our businesses due to the coronavirus.

“As a taxi company that does an abundance of medical transportation, I've always felt that it was our responsibility to the community to be as accommodating and available as possible. We take a great amount of pride in what we do for the people of Orange County. Whether it's something as simple as taking someone to the grocery store or as serious as bringing someone to their chemotherapy appointments, being able to help people in their day to day lives makes me feel like I have the best job in the world.

“When we were just starting to find out information about the coronavirus I was determined to stay open and push through this. But as the days went on and the severity of the virus was becoming more clear, helping flatten the curve became our top priority.

“Stores were sold out of cleaning supplies, more and more people were becoming infected, and I informed my employees that starting March 23 we would have to close until further notice.

“Since we've been closed my husband and I have been putting together guidelines and rounding up all the supplies needed to safely reopen. We have implemented new policies to ensure our customers have the safest rides possible.

“For example, unless it is a family member or health aide, there will only be one customer in the vehicle per ride, and the customer must sit in the backseat of the vehicle. We will have hand sanitizer and wipes available in the vehicles, and cars will be sanitized after each ride.

“We will have more details on our website www.monroe-taxi.com. Again, thank you so much to our loyal customers for your understanding during this time. We have missed you all so much and look forward to seeing everyone starting Monday! And to everyone in our community, stay healthy, stay safe, and we will get through this together!”
