The Monroe Police Benevolent has just completed its first annual Back-To-School Supply Drive with unimagined success.

This year, more than 20 local families have been outfitted for the 2021-22 school year with backpacks, lunch bags, notebooks, binders, crayons, pencils, pens, etc., thanks to the generosity of the community.

“Monroe and it’s surrounding communities have always shown their civic pride and it shows by the sheer volume of supplies that were dropped off to our police station,” PBA President Det. Det. Daniel Lindell said in the press release detailing the effort. “With the assistance from the community and our local businesses we were able to buildout over 40 backpacks.”

Lindell added: “The Monroe PBA would like to send our sincerest thanks to O’Toole’s Pub, The Captain’s Table, Tequila Grille, Bourbon Street Bar and Grill, The YMCA, Star Liquors, The Depot, Staples, and Target for their ensuring every child has all the supplies needed to succeed. The Monroe PBA is wishing all our students a safe, healthy, and fun school year.”
