The former treasurer of the Lakeside Fire and Rescue Company has been sentenced to 4 to 12 years in prison for stealing more than $421,000, News 12 reported last week.

Ian Harriton, 29, was sentenced in Orange County Court after pleading guilty to embezzling funds for more than 18 months from May 2020 to December 2021. According to News 12, Harriton will have to pay full restitution as part of his plea deal.

When asked by The Photo News to comment on the situation, Monroe Joint Fire District Secretary Kathleen Aherne said, “We have no comment other than none of the funds in question were taken from the Monroe Joint Fire District.”
