    Fund raiser for M-W High School Scholarships

    Designer Bag Bingo will be part of the fun on Friday, Oct. 4, when the Monroe Rotary sponsors a scholarship fund raiser at Monroe Presbyterian Church, 142 Stage Road, Monroe.

    Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and Bingo starts at 7 p.m.

    The $40 entry fee buys 10 games. There will also be chances to win door prizes, 50/50 and tricky trays. Wine and beer will be available to purchase, but participants are asked to bring snacks for their table.

    Run for Fun

    The YMCA Run for Fun, sponsored by Todd Lyons Paving, will be held Saturday, Oct. 5, from 9 a.m. to noon at the South Orange Y, 45 Gilbert St. Ext. in Monroe.

    Races include a 5K Color Run for those age 7 and older ($30 entry fee through Oct. 4 or $35 on race day) and Kids Color Dash ($12 through Oct. 4 or $15 on race day).

    You can also organize friends and family for a team challenge to honor a loved or promote your business ($150 for teams of up to 5 members; $250 for teams of 6-10 members).

    A post-race barbecue is free for runners and children 4 and under, $7 for ages 5-11, and $10 for ages 10 and older.

    Harriman Engine Co. 7 hosts pancake breakfast Oct. 6.

    The volunteers of Harriman Engine Co. 7 will host a pancake breakfast on Sunday, Oct. 6, from 8 a.m. to noon at the firehouse on 7 Short St.

    In addition to breakfast, guest will have a chance to meet the men and woman who serve the community.

    The menu will include: pancakes, eggs, bacon and sausage, plus coffee, tea and juice.

    Tickets are: $10 for adults, $8 for seniors and $5 for kids 6 and under.

    Town of Monroe Food Truck Festival set for Oct. 19

    The Town of Monroe's next Food Truck Festival will be held Saturday, Oct. 19, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at 61 O&R Road.

    Proceeds from the festival will benefit Make-A-Wish of Hudson Valley.

    A Taste of Monroe fund raiser scheduled for Oct. 22

    Towns 4 Troops, a local charity organization supporting active-duty military and their families, is hosting "A Taste of Monroe" fundraising event on Tuesday, Oct. 22, from 6 to 9 p.m.

    "A Taste of Monroe" will be held at American Legion Post 488, 532 Lakes Road in Monroe.

    Buy a plate and enjoy samples from the top restaurants and caterers in the community. Among those already committed to the evening are: Angelo's, Bourbon Street, Village Hands, Hops Craft Beer Burger and Captain's Table.

    Tickets are $20 per plate for adults (age 12 and up) and $10 for kids under 12.

    There also will be a Tricky Tray event and 50/50 raffle.
