The Woodbury Historical Society is making some changes to raise their profile while attracting more members from the community.

“Coming out of the pandemic, we are fiscally sound and investing both our time and money into generating awareness while engaging more actively with our community,” said Alex Prizgintas who, at the age of 23, was recently elected as the society’s youngest president. “Our footprint on Facebook is very active and continues to expand as we presently assemble various program for the Fall/Autumn season that both answer and meet the needs of our community.”

Certainly, one pressing need for the community is for everyone to better know both where the Woodbury Historical Society sits and when it is open.

“There has always been some confusion since our building, located on the corner of Route 32 and Weygant Hill Road, is technically called the Rushmore Memorial Library,” Prizgintas added. ”While it hasn’t been a library for several decades, not everyone knows that it is currently the home of our historical society.”

The Woodbury Historical Society is open on Tuesdays from 2 to 4 p.m., Thursdays from 7 to 9 p.m. and Saturdays from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

If you can’t make one of those times, call the Historical Society at 845-928-6770 or email your questions to woodbury1889@optonline.net.
