The Dug Out, which has been serving residents ice cream, food and summer treats in and around Central Valley for 21 years, was named the Small Business of the Month in the 99th Assembly District for May under the program sponsored by Assemblyman Colin J. Schmitt.

Assemblyman Colin J. Schmitt stated, “It is great to kick off the summer months honoring The Dug Out as small business of the month,” Schmitt said in the press release announcing the award. “The Dug Out ... is a true staple of the community.”

Woodbury Village Trustee Andrew Giacomazza described The Dug Out as “a landmark institution for our community. Thank you Assemblyman Schmitt for honoring The Dug Out and recognizing their positive footprint in the lives of our region.”

Earl Cronk, owner of The Dug Out, took note that “while the pandemic has been difficult for so many, we have been honored to serve the community, attempting to offer moments of happiness to our neighbors just like we have for 21 years. We are open for business.”
