Central Valley. Skoufis secures $60,000 grant for Central Valley Fire Company

    State Sen. James Skoufis (D-Hudson Valley) has secured $60,000 in state funding for the Central Valley Fire Company for rehabilitation and maintenance in the firehouse.

    The funds come from the State and Municipal Facilities Program and the grant will be distributed by the Dormitory Authority of the State of New York (DASNY).

    The Central Valley Fire Company is a volunteer-run organization that operates under the Woodbury Fire Department.

    “The Central Valley Fire Company has protected and served the Woodbury community through both everyday circumstances and the most severe ones like Superstorm Sandy, COVID-19 and Tropical Storm Isaias,” Skoufis said in the press release announcing the funding. “I’ve always supported these selfless volunteers and will continue to work to get the funding they need and deserve.”

    Last week, Village of Woodbury Mayor Tim Egan announced that the the Woodbury Fire Department had been awarded a $146,660 Homeland Security grant. The mayor said the money would be used to hire a volunteer coordinator who would be charged with recruiting 15 new volunteer firefighter in the next two years.
