Last Wednesday afternoon, members of the Crusaders softball team gathered on their new field to start making preparations for the 2021 softball season.

The new softball field is on the old footprint of the boys baseball field and is a combination of turf infield and grass outfield with a new outfield fence and spacious dugouts.

The softball team has not played a game since they it lost a heart-breaking playoff game to Warwick at the end of the 2018-2019 season during which Crusaders had gone 20-0.

Under the guidance of Head Coach Penny Roberts and Assistant Coach Elaine Schellbergh, the Crusaders hope to take the next step this spring and capture the elusive Section 9 title after last season canceled.

The coaches led the girls through hitting and fielding drills. They looked ready to start their season tomorrow but their season is now tentatively set for let spring next year.
