Central Valley. COVID-19 steals the seasons for these young athletes

Monday, March 1, at Monroe-Woodbury High School, Wrestling Head Coach John Gartiser and Cheerleading Head Coach Barbara Alidad both marked the end of their seasons.

Both the wrestling season and the competitive cheerleading seasons were canceled this year due to health concerns related to the ongoing pandemic.

On Monday, the coaches arranged for the seniors and their families to come in and be photographed together with the Crusader backdrop.

As the seniors and their families came in you could feel their disappointment as something they had worked and trained so hard for had been lost.

But there were still smiles and you could feel the bond that these athletics, families and coaches have for each other.

The wrestling and cheerleading teams will recover and hopefully next year will be among the top teams in Section 9 again.
