Celebrate the champions

Monroe. The community plans a parade this coming Sunday, Dec. 8, to celebrate the Monroe-Woodbury Girls Varsity Soccer team.

On Sunday, Dec. 8, beginning at 11 a.m., community leaders will host a parade to celebrate the Monroe-Woodbury Girls Varsity Soccer team.

The M-W Girls Varsity Soccer won back-to-back state Section 9 Class AA championships on Nov. 17 when the team defeated Fayetteville-Manilus by a score of 1-0.

Teyha Harvey was named the tournament MVP for her outstanding work on defense while Angela Fini received the outstanding Goalie award for her work in the final.s

Parade route

The parade will step-off at 11 a.m. at Airplane Park in the Village of Monroe and continue down Millpond Parkway, making a left onto Lake Street.

The parade will turn left onto Mapes Place, then make a right onto Spring Street and into Smith's Clove Park.

Upon parade completion, the championship team will continue the celebration at Jay's Deli in Highland Mills with a pizza party courtesy of Colleen Pearce.
