A Orange County Youth Bureau grant designed to provide family nights/events for children aged 3 to 14 is helping the South Orange Family YMCA, Smith Clove Park and the Village of Monroe to partner and host a Halloween event on Sunday, Oct. 31, from 12 to 2 p.m.

The Halloween Community Celebration will feature a costume parade, hay rides and other activities.

From 11 a.m. to noon, kids can take part in a “drive through” trick or treat event at the Y.

At 12:15 p.m. along Millpond Parkway, the costume parade steps off. Participants will walk along the Heritage Trail, crossing into Smith Clove Park.

Also, from 12:30 to 3 p.m. at Smith Clove Park, there will be hay rides and pumpkin painting.

“This three-way collaboration with the YMCA, the Village of Monroe, and Smith Clove Park is an exciting and fun event for all ages, and is the foundation of what YMCAs are all about,” said SOFY Branch Manager Ellen Beadle. “We are dedicated to strengthening the community by connecting all people.
