Wilfredo Vargas of the Bronx passed away on Tuesday, June 16, 2020, surrounded by his loving family in Central Valley. He was 89 years old.
The son of Juan and Ana Ortiz Vargas, he was born June 25, 1930, in Puerto Rico.
Wilfredo was a retired truck driver for Paramount Trucking in New Jersey.
Survivors include in his children: Wilfredo Vargas Jr. and his wife Daisy of the Bronx; William Vargas and his wife Pauline of the Bronx; David Vargas of Manhattan; and Daniel Vargas and his wife Barbara of Central Valley; his brothers: Herman Vargas of Texas and Jose Antonio Vargas of California; his six grandchildren: Liane, Ariel, Christine, Daniel Jr., Evan and Rebecca; and his five great grandchildren: Celina, Kaleb, Aliana, Laila and Isabella. Wilfredo was predeceased by his sister Alida Vargas.
Visitation was held June 23, 2020, at Smith, Seaman and Quackenbush Funeral Home, 117 Maple Ave., Monroe.
A Funeral Mass was celebrated June 24 at St. Anastasia Church in Harriman. Interment followed at St. Anastasia Cemetery.
