    Thomas G. Szigethy of Middletown passed away on Thursday, Aug. 19, 2021 at Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla, NY. He was 74 years old.

    The son of Stephen F. Szigethy and Eleanore Falk Szigethy, Tom was born on July 8, 1947, in the Bronx. He was a retired Office Manager for Con Edison of New York in New York City.

    In life, Tom was most proud of his two sons, James and Stephen; his military service aboard the USS Kitty Hawk during the Vietnam War; his Hospice volunteer service; his service in the chaplain’s office at Orange Regional Medical Center; his service to his church and his participation in the Christian Men’s Group.

    Tom was an Extraordinary Minister of the Eucharist and Cubmaster at St. Philip Neri Church in the Bronx; Lector and CCD teacher at Sacred Heart Church in Monroe; and Lector at Our Lady of Mount Carmel and St. Joseph’s Church in Middletown, where he was a parishioner.

    Survivors include his loving wife Mary Anne Gordon Szigethy at home; sons James F. Szigethy and his wife Alissa of Pine Bush and Stephen T. Szigethy and his wife Larissa of Monroe; brothers Frank Szigethy of Bronxville and Joseph Szigethy of Fishkill; sisters Monica Szigethy of Albany and Paula Kaempffer and her husband Tom of Ramsey, Minnesota; five grandchildren: Nina, Joshua, Landon, Xavier and Luke; and countless friends and relatives, who prayed and supported Tom.

    He was predeceased by his siblings: The Rev. Stephen J. Szigethy, John, Joan, Therese, Mary and Gerard.

    Thank you to Dr. David Ellis, Dr. Gregory Veillette, and the fine nurses and staff of Westchester Medical Center’s Trauma Intensive Care Unit.

    Visitation was held Aug. 26 at Smith, Seaman & Quackenbush, Inc. Funeral Home, 117 Maple Ave., Monroe.

    A Funeral Mass was held Aug. 27 at Sacred Heart Church, 26 Still Road, Monroe.

    Interment followed at Orange County Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Goshen.
