Richard L. Stevens

Richard “Dick” L. Stevens of Warwick (formerly of Pearl River) passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 9, 2021. He was 86 years old.

Born in Boonton, N.J., on March 4, 1934, he was the son of Edward and Lulu (Voorhees) Stevens.

A self-employed residential and commercial painter, Dick was also an accomplished artist with oil paints on canvas. He was a retired bus driver for Decamp, Shortline and Red & Tan Bus Companies.

Dick’s hobbies included hunting in the Adirondacks and deep sea fishing with his wife Carol. He enjoyed playing poker and gambling on the horses.

He also enjoyed landscaping and taking care of his yard, but spending time with his grandchildren was his favorite hobby and his greatest love.

Dick is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Carol (nee Walsh) and their children: Kimberly Miller and Richard L. Stevens Jr., both of Warwick; Christine Costello of Kent Island, Maryland, and Colleen Lukach of Unionville; grandchildren: Ashley, Justin and Taylor Miller, Amber and Toni Costello, Sean and Sarah Lukach; his children from a previous marriage and their families: Craig Stevens of Sparta, N.J., Roy Stevens of Bloomfield, N.J., Cheryl Stevens, and Scott Stevens, both of Saddlebrook, N.J.; sisters Barbara Eustice and Virginia Stevens.

He was predeceased by an infant daughter, Carol J. Stevens, and his brother, Edward Stevens.

Visitation and funeral services were held Feb. 12 at Lazear-Smith & Vander Plaat Memorial Home, 17 Oakland Ave., Warwick.
