Neil J. McNeil Jr. of Highland Mills passed way on Friday, March 12, 2021, at Garnet Health Medical Center in the Town of Wallkill. He was 63 years old.
The son of Neil and Camille Cuccurullo McNeil Sr., he was born on May 31, 1957, in Brooklyn.
Neil served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1976-1979.
After his honorable discharge, Neil became a police officer for New York City’s Finest, ending his career with the NYPD with the 71st Precinct in Brooklyn.
He was very active within his community and was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council # 16334 in Highland Mills, the Woodbury Community Association, Jason Conklin Lodge FOP, NYPD Emerald Society, NYPD Football Team and a delegate for the NYPD PBA.
Survivors include his loving wife Carol DeMaria McNeil at home; his beloved children: Neil McNeil of Los Angeles, California; Jennifer Hanley and her husband Brian of Staten Island; Katlyn Balslov and her husband Kevin of Warwick; and Brianne McNeil of Highland Mills; his sibling: Kevin McNeil and his wife Gina of Staten Island; Patricia Tripo and her husband Carmen of Staten Island; Denise Cutrona and her husband John of Florida, N.Y.; and Kathy Marino and her husband Frank, of Brooklyn, NY; his adoring grandchildren: Brian, Taylor, and Kevin and by several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister Camille Tortorella.
Visitation was held March 15 and March 16 at Smith, Seaman & Quackenbush Funeral Home, 515 Route 32, Highland Mills.
A Funeral Mass was celebrated March 17 at St. Patrick’s Church, 26 Hunter St., Highland Mills.
Interment followed at Orange County Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Goshen.
