Lorenzo Johnson Sr. passed away on Thursday, April 1, 2021, at his residence in Chester. He was 85 years old.

The son of Chester and Cecilia Garofalo Johnson, he was born on March 31, 1936, in New York City.

Lorenzo proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1954-1957 during the Korean War.

After his honorable discharge, Lorenzo became a Police Officer for New York City’s Finest, ending his career with the NYPD at the 25th Precinct in Harlem.

He was a devoted member of St. Columba Church in Chester and a member of the American Legion Post #488 of Monroe.

Survivors include his children: Darryl Johnson (Allen Lane) of Pensacola, Fla.; Lorenzo Johnson Jr. of Chester; and Margaret Minchin (Dennis) of Monroe; and his grandchildren: Kayla, Caitlyn, Andrew and Brianna.

In addition to his parents, Lorenzo was also predeceased by his loving wife Ruth Johnson and his brother Chester Johnson Jr.

Visitation was held April 6 at Smith, Seaman, and Quackenbush, Inc. Funeral Home, 117 Maple Ave., Monroe.

A Funeral Mass was celebrated April 7 at St. Columba Church, 27 High St., Chester.

Interment followed at St. Columba Cemetery.
