Humberto 'Pete' Badillo

Humberto Badillo, beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle, godfather and son passed away on Friday, Oct. 25, 2019, after a long battle with heart disease.

He was the father of Bridget Rivera, grandfather of Brandon and Nicholas Rivera and father-n-law to James Rivera.

Born Dec. 6, 1946, in Puerto Rico, he was the son of Ismael and Hipolita Badillo.

Humberto aka “Pete” was drafted immediately after turning 18 and served in the Vietnam War. He was proud of his service and displayed his pride by wearing his Vietnam hat and dog tags everywhere he went.

He worked throughout his life in the New York area from delivering steel to the World Trade Center to driving buses at Mount Sinai Hospital.

He was known for his “air quotes” and affection of baseball and basketball, Judge Judy and anything that involved his family.

His kindness, patience, generosity and faith-filled life were examples to all of us.

In addition to his daughter Bridget, he is survived by his mother Hipolita Badillo and siblings Helen Perez, Margarita Badillo, Manolin Badillo and Wanda Ayala, grandchildren Brandon and Nichols Rivera and 25 nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held Oct. 29 at Smith, Seaman & Quackenbush, Inc. Funeral Home in Monroe.

A funeral Mass took place Oct. 30 at Sacred Heart Church in Monroe.

Interment took place at St. Raymond’s Cemetery in the Bronx.
