Eugene L. Delamarter Jr.

Eugene L. Delamarter Jr. of Port Jervis, N.Y., passed away Monday, Sept. 23, 2019, at Bon Secours Community Hospital in Port Jervis. He was 71.

Son of Eugene and Joanne Misner Delamarter, he was born Jan. 13, 1948, in Liberty, N.Y.

Eugene was a machine operator for Lycian Lighting in Sugar Loaf, N.Y.

Survivors include his sons, Eugene L. Delamarter III of Shohola, Pa., Vincent Gopel of Pheonix, Arizona, and Kenneth Gopel of Cornwall-on-Hudson; his daughters, Gretchen Gopel of Chester, N.Y., Germaine Lenza of Pine Bush, N.Y., Geraldine Myers of Montague, N.J., Dori Myers of Willseyville, N.Y., and Jeanine Lofstedt of Stuart, Fla., his 21 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; his brother Paul Delamarter of Canandaigua; and many nieces and nephews.

He is predeceased by his wife Claudia A. Chatterton Gopel and son Martin Gopel.

Memorial visitation and funeral services were held Oct. 1 at Smith, Seaman & Quackenbush Funeral Home, Monroe. Inurnment followed in the family plot at Monroe Cemetery in Monroe.
