Woodbury Public Library announces its programs for adults in March

Highland Mills. Events to include art, taxes, a health and wellness workshop, a travel program on Iceland and a celebration of National Crayon Day.

Woodbury Public Library will hold the following programs for adults during March:

Art @ Your Library Artist of the Month: Cathy Marczyk

Saturday, March 7, noon to 2 p.m.

"The Shape of Water" brings the macro-photography work of Cathy Marczyk to the library. A songwriter, musician, avid hiker, mountain biker, canoeist and cross-country skier, her works showcase a keen eye for the beauty of nature and its seasonal changes and shifts. If you can't join us on the seventh, stop by at the Highland Mills Branch of Woodbury Public Library any time during March 2020 to view the display.

"Tax Talk" (financial seminar)

Sunday, March 8, 2 to 3 p.m. at the Woodbury Senior Center (adjacent to the Highland Mills Branch of the Library)

Learn strategies for maximizing savings defore you start preparing your tax form submissions. Andrea Brown will present on investments you can still make in 2020 that will count as deductions on your 2019 tax return forms. Q&A will be part of the presentation. Light refreshments will be available.

Book club discussion

Thursday, March 12, 6:30 to 8 p.m.

Family drama and long hidden secrets in the Hudson River Valley: "World's End" by T. Coraghessan Boyle traces the ancestry of Walter Van Brunt and takes us back through the years to the late seventeenth century (ghosts included). A winner of the Pen/Faulkner Award for American Fiction, the story has been described as "Zany, different, and intellectually engaging...." (Glamour)

Travel Talk: "Of Glaciers, Vikings and Cod ~ Adventures in the Land of Fire and Ice"

Sunday, March 22, 2 to 3:30 p.m. at the Woodbury Senior Center (adjacent to the Highland Mills Branch of the Library)

David Yozzo takes us on a journey of extraordinary beauty. Three separate visits to Iceland are featured in the captivating photos taken by the presenter. A bit of history and geography will be shared, as well as travel tips and suggestions for those interested in visiting this unique area of our globe. Light refreshments will be served.

Great for attendees of all ages - Young Adults and Seniors welcome. Please pre-register.

"Just Say Yes to Fruits and Vegetables " (health and wellness workshop)

Thursday, March 26, 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the Woodbury Senior Center (adjacent to the Highland Mills Branch of the Library)

The library will be celebrating National Nutrition Month when it welcomes nutrition educator Monica Cieslak of the Food Bank of the Hudson Valley in an interactive workshop. Cieslak will prepare a fruit or vegetable recipe so you can taste something new, delicious and nutritious, learn some cooking techniques, and bring home low-cost recipe ideas.

Learn how to make the most of your budget while eating healthy, natural foods. Please pre-register.

Family Coloring Program (A Celebration of National Crayon Day)

Monday, March 30, 5 p.m. at the Woodbury Senior Center (adjacent to the Highland Mills Branch of the Library)

All ages welcome!! All materials (plus snacks) will be provided. Enjoy an evening of "old-fashioned," non "screen time," multi-generational fun. Story time and a little history about crayons will be part of the event - something for everyone, both kids and the young at heart.
