Binghamton. The King of Polka receives the key to the City of Binghamton

Jimmy Sturr and His Orchestra recently performed in the City of Binghamton, where they drew more than 2,000 people. It was an exciting day for everyone as they received several standing ovations.

Mayor Richard David presented Sturr with the key to the city along with a beautiful proclamation citing many of his accomplishments, including his 18 Grammy Awards, putting him in the top 10 of all-time winners.

The proclamation also states that Sturr’s music has filled the homes of generations of Binghamton residents and is the soundtrack of countless happy memories. Many dignitaries were in attendance including the state senator and assemblyman who represent Binghamton.

Jimmy has been awarded the keys to many cities over the years including: Erie, Pa., Allentown, Pa., Wilkes Barre, Pa. Ansonia, Conn., Lyndhurst, N.J. , Pittsburgh, Pa., plus many, many more.

Sturr and the band return to the area when they perform in Greenwood Lake on Saturday, Oct. 16.
