On Friday afternoon, April 12, members of the Monroe-Woodbury Football Team got to meet their new head football coach.

In a brief ceremony after school, Athletic Director Lori Hock officially introduced James Sciarra to the team.

Sciarra returns to the Crusaders after being an assistant coach for the Crusaders from 2013 to 2015.

Before that he had been the head coach at Warwick Valley, where he went 40-25 between 2006 to 2012. The Wildcats made the Section 9 Class AA championship game in 2009 and 2011. In his last year at Warwick Valley, the team finished 6-3 and lost to Monroe-Woodbury 14-13 in the Section 9 Class AA semifinals.

Sciarra spent the last three years working as an assistant coach at John S. Burke Catholic in Goshen before getting the chance to return to the Crusaders family.

The coach said he was looking forward to the challenge of working with the players and the coaches as they go into the 2019 season, looking to secure a Section 9 championship.
