Crusaders down the Arlington Admirals 7-0

    On Wednesday afternoon, April 17, the Monroe Woodbury Varsity Softball Team hosted the Arlington High School Admirals.
    The Crusaders entered the game with a 5-0 record on the season, having defeated Warwick Valley High School last Friday by a score of 8-4.
    The Crusaders jumped out to a 2-0 first inning lead when Danielle Ryan and Emma Lawson scored on singles by Jessica O’Brien and Madison McGee.
    The Crusaders added four more runs in the fourth. Brianna Roberts scored on a Victoria Borowski sacrifice fly, Danielle Ryan scored on a O’Brien single, Lawson scored on a single by McGee and O’Brien scored on a single by Mckayla Murphy.
    In the sixth inning the Crusaders closed out the scoring when Cymonne Rios doubled and scored on McGee’s single to center.
    On the mound for the Crusaders Samantha Ryan started and went five innings, allowing two hits and striking out nine to pick up her fifth victory of the year.
    Brianna Roberts then closed the door on the Admirals, fanning three in two innings of work.
    The Crusaders' 7-0 victory brings their record to 6-0 on the season.
    Their next game will be Thursday when they host Pine Bush.
