Monroe-Woodbury routs Kingston 57-28 in girls varsity basketball

KINGSTON — On Thursday night, Feb. 5, the Monroe-Woodbury Girls Varsity Basketball team traveled to Kingston High School for an important OCIAA Division 1 game.

The Crusaders entered the game with a 11-4 record on the season, having dropped their last three non-league road games.

The Tigers enter the game with a 5-11 record overall but were tied with the Crusaders in Division 1 play with identical records of 3-1.

The Crusaders entered the Kate Walton Fieldhouse and immediately took over the game right. Crusader Toni Neely exploded in the first quarter and scored the game's first eight points. She she hit her first two three-point shots and scored 15 in the game.

Not to be out done, her sister Taylor Neely took over in the second quarter and scored five as the Crusaders built their half time lead to 36-8.

In the third quarter, center Jamie Waldron scored 9 points.

Then in the final quarter, Alyx Sperling hit a long three-point shot as the Crusaders routed the Tigers 57-28.

The Crusaders victory brings their record to 12-4 on the season. Their next game will be on Tuesday, when they travel to Middletown to take on the Middies.
