NEWBURGH — On Friday night, Feb. 1, the Crusaders hosted the Spartans of Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake High School at the Ice Time Sports Complex in Newburgh.

The Crusaders entered the game shorthanded with couple of key defensive players missing. The Spartans controlled most of the play in the first period as they edged out to a 2-0 lead.

In the second period the Spartans took over the game as the puck rarely left the Crusaders end of the rink and they scored four more times to increases their lead 6-0 at the end of the second period. The Spartans kept the pressure on in the third period as they slowly increased their lead to 9-0.

Crusader Christopher Cromwell finally beat the Spartan goalie with 8:23 left in the game to get the team on the board but the Spartans answered back with another score late in the game.

The Crusaders' 10-1 loss to the Spartans brought their record to 9-5-2 on the season.

They are scheduled to play Feb. 6 against the Rams of Clarkstown North at the Palisades Ice Arena.
