WARWICK — On Monday night, Jan. 28, the Crusaders traveled to Warwick Valley High School to take on the Wildcats.

The Crusaders entered the game with an 11-1 record; the Wildcats stood at 11-2 on the season. Both teams are currently sitting in first place in their divisions.

So with all the excitement, the feel of a playoff game and a large crowd on hand, the two teams delivered a very exciting mid-season game.

In the first quarter the Crusaders got off to a 8-4 as both teams showed that this was going to be a very intense defensive struggle.

In the second quarter, the lead and the momentum swung back and fourth as neither team could build a lead. Finally, just before the half time buzzer, Taylor Neely made a quick move down the lane and laid the ball into give the Crusaders a 19-18 half time lead.

In the third quarter, the Wildcats again took the lead but the Crusaders, behind Taylor Neely, who scored seven of her game-high 16 points, again went ahead at the buzzer 31-29.

In the hard fought fourth quarter, the Wildcats edged out to a three-point lead and their defensive pressure held the Crusaders to two points.

Although the Crusaders battled, the Wildcats were able to hold them off as they took a 37-33 victory.

The Crusaders loss brings their record to 11-2 on the season. Their next game was scheduled for Thursday when they travel to Arlington High School to take on the Admirals.
