MONROE — The Town of Monroe closed on the purchase of the Monroe Jewish Community Center (Congregation Eitz Chaim) on Wednesday, Jan. 23.

The town has leased the lower level of the building since 2016 for use as its Town Hall location.

With this 2.6 million purchase, the town will occupy both levels of the building and will consolidate town operations, including relocating the Town Courts from the current Lake Street location.

“We are truly excited about the purchase of this building and the opportunity to consolidate town operations to better serve our residents," Town of Monroe Supervisor Tony Cardone said. "The Town has enjoyed a wonderful working relationship with Congregation Eitz Chaim over the past few years.

"We understand the mixed emotions of the members of Eitz Chaim in moving on from the building they have called home for several years," Cardone added. "We wish them all the best in their next chapter as a Congregation.”
