CENTRAL VALLEY — On Monday night, Jan. 7, at Monroe-Woodbury High School, the Crusaders hosted the Raiders of Port Jervis in a non-league girls varsity basketball game.

The Crusaders entered the game with a 7-1 record while the Raiders were looking for their first victory of the season.

The Crusaders controlled the game from the tip off. Center Jamie Waldron scored 10 points in the opening period as the Crusaders jumped out to a 21-2 lead.

In the second quarter, the Crusaders started getting everybody involved in the game as their tough zone defense held the Raiders to two points.

But it wasn’t until Emily Harwood hit a jumper at the half-time buzzer did the Crusaders score their fourth point of the quarter.

After the break the Crusaders' offense began rolling again as Liz Allen scored six and the Crusaders pulled out to a 35-8 lead.

In the final quarter the Crusaders scored 16 points thanks to sharp passing and quick cuts. Kiley Metcalf scored five points as the team claimed a 51-8 victory.

The victory brings their season record to 8-1.
