    It is with profound sadness that the family of Paul Andrew Herbert announces his passing on Saturday, Jan. 26, 2019, at the young age of 57.
    Paul passed away peacefully at home after a long battle with ALS. The amazing courage and strength Paul displayed throughout his journey over the last three years was truly inspiring to all and a testament to his deep faith in God.
    Paul will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 22 years, Mary Jayne, and his cherished daughter, Emily Jayne Herbert, of Cornwall. Paul is also survived by his mom Janet Herbert of New Windsor, his brothers Bruce Herbert (Amy) of College Station, Texas, and Gregory Herbert (Janel) of Los Gatos, California. In addition, he is survived by his father and mother-in-law: David and Lorraine McLeod, sisters and brothers-in law: Cheryl and William Riegel and Debra and Mark Cable and David McLeod and Christopher McLeod; as well as 11 nieces and nephews.
    Paul was predeceased by his father, Otto Herbert.
    Paul was employed by IBM as a Corporate Buyer for 33 years.
    He was a parishioner and active in the church at St. John's in Cornwall as well Habitat for Humanity in Newburgh.
    Paul was also an avid sports enthusiast and enjoyed hiking and camping in the Adirondacks. He was frequently seen being a Trail Angel for the many backpackers hiking the Appalachian Trail, providing water and other needed resources.
    Visitation will be held Friday, Feb. 1, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Quigley-Sullivan Funeral Home, 337 Hudson St., Cornwall-on-the-Hudson.
    A mass will be held at St. John’s Episcopal Church on Saturday, Feb. 2, at 11 a.m., 66 Clinton Street, Cornwall NY.
    Paul will be dearly missed by all his family and friends. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Paul may be made to the ALS Association Greater New York, Chapter, 42 Broadway, Suite 1724, New York, NY 10004.
