WARWICK — On Monday, Nov. 12, the third annual Toys for Military Tots toy drive was launched by Orange County Community Radio WTBQ (1110 AM/93.5 FM).
Two years ago station owner Frank Truatt and station manager Taylor Sterling conceived the idea after speaking with Orange County Executive Steve Neuhaus about the needs of the children of our military, both active and those of disabled veterans.
And the station has again teamed up with Neuhaus along with others including Bob Caridi, president of the Nam Knights, Orange County Director of Veteran Affairs Christian Farrell, Master Sgt. Sara Pastorello of the 105th Airlift Wing Public Affairs, Leo Kaytes of Leo Kaytes Ford and Larry Neumann of Vet2Vet.
Santa will deliver the unwrapped new toys for ages baby to 12 years old on Monday, Dec. 10.
Extra wrapping paper and ribbons would also be appreciated.
"Please help support this toy drive," said Sterling, "and get your children involved by teaching them how important it is to give back. Let's all pay it forward. That is the least we can do for those who make the ultimate sacrifice. And the smiles on the faces of the children is what makes it all worthwhile."
Drop Off sites are the WTBQ office in Warwick, just off Route 94 South on Sanfordville Road and Leo Kaytes Ford on Route 94.
"God bless you all," said Sterling, "for sharing with those who sacrifice so much in order that we may enjoy the holidays with our families.
