WARWICK — On an overcast and foggy Monday afternoon, Oct. 8, the Monroe-Woodbury Girls Varsity Soccer Team traveled to Warwick to take on the undefeated Wildcats.

The Crusaders entered the game with a 9-1 record and the Wildcats stood at 6-0.

The Crusaders got on the board 14 minutes into the game when Kaelyn Salato took a pass from Liz Allen and scored.

The Wildcats answered eight minutes later when Gabbi Rusek tied the score at 1.

The Crusaders then scored with just 2:59 left in the half when Marisa Key hit a perfect shot from outside the box into the upper top corner of the Wildcats' net to give the Crusaders a 2-1 lead.

Key scored her second goal of the game in the second half when she hit another shot into the Wildcat goal from outside the box.

Crusaders Jillian Fabbro added an insurance goal when she popped a shot over the Wildcat defender and, when Hannah Kelly pressured the goalie, the ball bounced into the Wildcat goal for a 4-1 lead.

With 2:14 left on the clock Wildcat Alissa Madura scored to make the score 4-2.

The Crusaders' victory brings their record to 10-1.

The next day, the Crusaders travel to Kingston, where they tied the Tigers by a score of 1-1.
