HARRIMAN —Assemblyman James Skoufis (D-Woodbury) has announced that he secured a $250,000 grant for the Village of Harriman to help fund the construction of a new village facility.

The new facility will replace two outdated and undersized buildings and will house the Village Hall, Village Court, Building Department and Village Police. New outside entrance bathrooms will provide comfort for the Edward B. Shuart, Jr. Memorial Playground visitors.

The project is expected to cost about $3.6 million and will be paid for through a combination of capital funds, a state grant and a bond. Completion is expected early next year.

“On behalf of the Village Board, we thank Assemblyman Skoufis for obtaining this grant,” said Village of Harriman Mayor Stephen H. Welle. “It is a huge help in moving forward with new facilities for all village services.”

“Having a modern, centralized location where residents can obtain village services under one roof makes perfect sense,” Skoufis said in the press release detailing the grant. “I’ll always fight to bring home our tax dollars for important projects like this one in order to better our communities and minimize the fiscal impacts to the municipalities I represent.”
