— Share the warmth.
Orange County Community Radio WTBQ (1110 AM/93.5 FM) recently launched the Orange County Coat and Clothes Drive now through Oct. 29 to benefit the non-profit organization, HONOR, an acronym for Helping Others Needing Our Resources.
The annual program was originally launched by WTBQ Station owner Frank Truatt and Station Manager Taylor Sterling when Orange County Executive Steve Neuhaus gave them the idea after he traveled upstate and witnessed children without coats.
"Share the warmth with WTBQ and donate gently used or new coats, gloves, hats, sweaters, scarves and clothes for any age and any gender," said Sterling. "Our annual coat drive will benefit babies, children, teens and adults. Please go through your closet, and your children's closet with them and explain what it means to share with others. There are so many that go without winter coats and clothes. Let's all change that together."
She added that the colors, sizes or fabric are not important.
The primary drop off location is the WTBQ radio station at 179 Sanfordville Road, just off Route 94 South. But there is also another drop off site at CuraLeaf, 8 N. Plank Road in Newburgh and more to follow.
For additional locations as they become available visit the WTBQ Website at www.wtbq.com.
HONOR provides individualized and integrated services to people who may be in need of transitional housing, or requiring crisis intervention.
