CENTRAL VALLEY — On a very hot and humid Wednesday afternoon, Sept. 5, the Monroe-Woodbury Varsity Boys Soccer team hosted the Goshen High School Gladiators.

The Crusaders entered the game having beaten the John Jay High School Patriots on Saturday by a score of 3-1.

In an unusual turn of events, a loss to Arlington has been reversed and the Crusaders have been awarded the victory due to a rules violation.

The Crusaders wasted little time in the heat to put the Gladiators away as Ikiel Collins-Brown, Christ Valle, Jordan Gollinger and Jesse Schwartz all scored in the first half to give the Crusaders a 4-0 lead.

In the second half, Eric Shippee added one more to give the Crusaders a 5-0 lead.

The Crusader defense kept the ball away from goalie Dylan McDermott, who faced only two shots as he recorded his first shutout of the season.

The Crusaders' 5-0 victory over the Gladiators brings their season record to 3-0.

Their next game is scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 13, at home against Pine Bush High School at 4 p.m.
